Re: Patrick Weeks
Welcome Patrick
Long time since you were at Sea,but I am sure still have good memories of the time you did spend !
There is a certain Lady that used to post a lot here, and her dear hubby (now deceased) was on the Dominion Monarch.
That Ship I believe was a good one!
Saw it a few times!
Anyway enjoy the site and possibly there may just be someone here who recalls you
Cheers
Thanks for joining!

Re: Patrick Weeks
Patrick,Lou Barron on here lives in Dunedin sailed with a lad from Bootle on the Duchess Of Bedford early 40's.The lad from Bootle was Johnny M'cNab he was a great mate of Lou so Lou and I tried for a long time to try and trace Johnny for old times sake.By the time we traced Johnny we found out that he had died just a couple of years earlier in Tasmania. What I want to say to you is Johnny McNab jumped ship in Auckland around about 1950 and lived there until he moved to Tasmania in recent years, I believe that he was still involved in the shipping game.I know it's a long shot but did you ever come across Johnny at all in Auckland? what a nice surprise that would be for Lou if you had.
Regards.

Re: Patrick Weeks
G'day Patrick and a bonzer new year to you too. What day in February are you going to be 79? I will be 84 on the 26th February. I wonder if you were on the DM at the same time as Colin Duke of Lindfield, Sussex who was a cook. I sailed with Colin on the Port St John in 1949/50 and on the Gothic when he joined us for the 1952/53 voyage. Colin was also on the Esperance Bay (me Moreton Bay). Colin found me on this site in August 2010 and whilst he does not post on this site often we are now still in regular contact. Here is a photo I took of him in Melbourne in November 1949.
Practice on the site, Patrick and you will become proficient.
Cheers, Richard

Funny how things tie in on this site, I lived in Lindfield Sussex from 1979 until 1998 and know the name Duke, I was in Lindfield in January this year tending to my late wife's grave. One of the most beautiful little villages in Sussex, in fact we won the best kept village title for so many years we were finally asked not to enter anymore. Small world.

Re: Patrick Weeks
Yes Ivan, Colin and his wife Viv are lovely people and was born in Lindfield and lived in one of the oldest houses there. If you go into my profile he is a "friend" and if you would like to make contact you could send him a pm and mention my name. It is indeed a small world and may you get some pleasure from this Lindfield connection.
