Another New One
I can't believe after just receiving an email yesterday for this site and then visiting spent nearly 3 hours into the early morning looking back.
I was not at sea at all very long but something still tugs at the old heart strings and have always worked near or on various vessels with the shore jobs I had for some years although not in the capacity when I first left school.
I went to Gravesend National Sea Training school sometime in 1974 to train for the deck department.
Sometime later that year joined the Reina Del Mar of Union Castle Line and sailed down to South Africa and then across to South America on her three times and then signed off of her at Southampton in April 1975.
I then signed on the Windsor Castle and stayed on her until late 1976/early 77 lost all my records from when I signed off of her.
So that's me not really that long at the game but that little bit has played the greatest part in my life and it is always great to look back and remember, I don't unfortunately have my discharge book but still have the various tickets and my Discharge book no. UK 016756.
I will no doubt have many an hour pleasantly reading all these wonderful stories and thanks for the email,
Kindest regards, Clive Maclennan.

Re: Another New One
Clive, welcome to the site there are a number of ex UCl guys, including my self on Windsor, Pretoria and Rhodesia, so you are in good company. I took the Windsor out, joined voyage 2, you took her to the finish. The time you spent at sea is not that important, what is is the fact you did.

Happy daze John in Oz.

Charlie built for PSNC, operated by them and then sold to Union Castle, sailed under their colours but retained her name, as she was a well known ship
