Re: Say Hello.
An amplidyne is an electromechanical amplifier invented during World War II by Ernst Alexanderson. It is usually an AC motor driving a DC generator with modifications to increase the power gain available.

Re: Say Hello.
Ivan ! I did not know any UCL Engineers who were confused except by alcohol , a few Sparkies were confused by the bleeping in their ears , and a few Navigators confused when threatened with a Clan Boat , Catering well they were not all confused , but some were multi voltage and AC /DC . not all . I must add .

Generaly speaking Rob the catering crew in tourist, particulary the tourist gallop, would not have had time to be anything but normal, if there is such a thing.
However in first class there were some first class alternative personages who were not only on the ac/dc scale but on the metric/imperial long befoe we ever heard of it, but most were very nice with it.e

Re: Say Hello.
And a few of the engineer's stewards may have inclinations too , my relief looking for a lie in one morning found our steward joining him at ten past eight one morning in his bunk , he was never late again !
