Great weekend for Veterans 70th Atlantic Lpool.
Hi Everyone
What a great weekend Liverpool gave our Veterans for the 70th Battle of Atlantic Anniversary. A big thank you to Liverpool City Council, the police, St Johns Ambulance, the stewards and everyone connected to local services that made this weekend a big hit. But the biggest thank you to all those great Veterans, who were able to attend the memorial parade at the Pier Head on Saturday and the parade from the Cathedral on Sunday.
Attended both events with my son and told him to remember these brave men (most about 90, same age as my late dad) and to remember to tell his grandchildren one day, that he was there, as we won't see an event on this scale again. On Saturday the Pier head was packed and what great weather. The veterans have certainly been remembered. On the Sunday parade seen a few Arctic Convoy Heroes with their white caps and how well they all marched. Especially the veterans holding the standards, which are heavy to hold at any age. Loved the veteran who did a little jig at the back of the parade, only the merchant navy would do that!
Just got back before after a third day at the Pier Head. Waited for two hours with my family to go on the canadian destroyer, which was worth it in the end, despite the rain. Waved goodbye to the Russian destroyer sailing away, with Rod Stewart's 'I am sailing,' on the loud speakers. A good end to a brilliant weekend.
Alex.

Liverpool echo etc:
Many thanks also to the local press that is still giving much coverage, the BBC did well for the 2 hours at the Cathedral and some bits, but need to put all together including London and Derry etc for a feature and further release all on a FREE DVD in the National press for MN day.
I will push for this or similar:
Another thought and I will contact all associated is for a similar release for the PO MN stamp launch. September 19th.
