Battle of the Altantic
R235941 Arthur Harvey Being a vet of that period I applied and received two seats for the Cathedral but eventually I had to withdraw because of my physical condition as having Spinal Stenosis means very limited walking, however I did watch the full programme on BBC and admit I was very emotional when I saw pictures of a tanker on fire having been struck by a torpedo; it bought back many
memories .I always consider myself lucky in never having to abandon ship although I served from 1941 till the end and that service including troopships, tankers and a liberty ship also many theatre
of the war all being long trips. Having attended the 50th and 60th anniversaries I was very disappointed to miss the 70th; one must praise the naval officers who organised this event but it is what one expects when the RN are involved.
