SS Orsova Crew List July 1925

I am trying to find information about my great grandfather, Frederick Charles Foster. I know he was on the SS Orsova (128278) in June/July 1925 and that he signed up again for the same ship late July 1925. I have tried to view the crew list for the ship in the National Maritime Museum and the National Archives. The crew list for the voyage that returned to Tilsbury early July 1925 is at the National Archives but the crew list for late July 1925 is not. Does anyone have any idea where this crew list might be? Any help would be greatfully received.

Hello Ian,

I take it you looked in BT 99/3793 at Kew - the 1925 crew agreements.

If there is nothing in that file then two things may have happened:
1. The agreement for that voyage has not survived.
2. The ship was away from a UK port for the remainder of 1925 and the crew agreements will be in with the following year 1926.

I don't see an agreement for 1926 anywhere but if they have survivied the should be held at the MHA in Canada: Crew List Index Search Results
I note they have indexed 1927. I would contact them and ask if they have yet to index 1925 and 1926 and if they can look for you.

Thank you for this. I hadn't considered that it could be in with 1925, which is obvious once you have said it. I shall keep trying.
