Greetings
Hello everyone - I've just discovered my late Father's merchant navy records on Find My Past - so I am looking to find out more through this site and others.

A lot of those records for that time period did not list the ships an individual served on, but listed the ships Official No. instead. If you need these checking it is possible to trace the ships names by these individual numbers.

Yes the records I have show the official numbers - and i've managed to trace those through the National Archive. I suspect there's more detail on his career at the records in Southampton - just need to get myself down there!
Thanks for your suggestion
