Hi Everyone! Please can you help me - I'm new on here!
Hi Everyone! I'm new and I haven't got a clue about forums! I'm researching my husband's father's life in the M.N. Unfortunately, his father passed away in 1977, so we have nothing to go on really.
Ronald (Ron) Cooke served in the M.N. in the 70's as far as we know and was on the Canaervonbrook and Winchesterbrook and possibly other ships. He was born in Sunderland but lived in Penzance, Cornwall. Does anyone remember him, or have any info on the ships? Thanks so much and I apologise if I haven't posted this correctly. :0)

Welcome
Hello Sue
Thanks for joining and welcome!
Can you please give us his Year of Birth that will make it easier to look up his Seamans Pouch and CRS10 if they still exist but if he was still at Sea after 1972 then there will be no records of him,as they stopped keeping records from then untill a lot later when they restarted i am not sure as to when?
Anyway other than that i hope someone here may recall him!
All the best
Doc
Wonder if this could possibly be a relative ,Brother perhaps!?
Cheers

Hi Sue. A warm welcome to the site. I hope that you find what you are looking for. You will soon find that there are many only too ready to try and help on the site. The more information you can provide the more you are likely to get in the way of results. Don't worry about being a novice on the forums ~ we all were once. If you have any challenges you only have to ask. Also you can visit the Help Desk Forum where you will find a "Help with using this site" sub forum. Good luck down there in sunny Cornwall.

Ron's D.O.B.
Hi Doc, many thanks for helping me with my quest.
Ronald Cooke (Ron) was born in Sunderland on 20th August 1932 and died in Cornwall in 1979.
My husband knows he was on the Canaervonbrook and Winchesterbrook, but little else.
I hope this helps, I know it's not much! Best wishes Sue Cooke
