Anyone Know Me?
Hi i'm looking for anyone who remembers me or maybe people who we may know in common. I joined NSTS in Gravesend in Sept '81 and joined my first ship in Dec '81 R.F.A. Engadine altho i only did a cpl months, after this in '82 i sailed aboard Cunard's banana boats running Europe to Central America, following this i sailed on Buries Markes, La Pampa carrying bulk cargo around the world. Then late 1982 i joined the S.S. Uganda troop carrying to the Falklands which i did till its final voyage in 1984/5, during this stint i did one trip on the Oriana in '84 and a relief job for 2 weeks on the Sea Princess. After this i then worked for P&O Containers untill my final voyage in 1993. I worked in the catering deprtment starting as JCR and worked as steward/steward cook and cook. Anyway if anyone remembers me or if anyone wants to just swap stories then please get in touch lets catch up on the good old days. Mark Gilbert.
p.s. While on board the Uganda i was probably better known as F.C. and if ya know me you'll remember.

GDay Mark
Welcome to the site, good crew here plenty of tall tales, suggest you take your time and go back through some of the posts, get familiar with who is on site. And as John said post your ships in the my ships forum with dates, also dates you were at Gravesend, in the front of your discharge book. You may or may not know there is a web site for Gravesend boys, see Brian's list on this site.
Cheers Des
