For Susan Edwards....
Hello Susan, my condolences to you on the loss of your dear Dad.
In response to your query....
There were 3 ships to bear the name Ajana for the Australind /Trinder Anderson companies.
Your father would have served aboard the 2nd Ajana built in 1950.Official Number 184346.)She was sold in 1964,and eventually was wrecked on Thunderbolt Reef off Cape Recife,S.Africa in 1976
I attach a link to the Photoships picture below, which you can copy or print out.

ajana
Hi Susan,
I sailed on the Ajana from 20.12.61 until 10.08.63. The captain was Tom Hastings, the 1st mate was Ron Hutchison, the 2nd Mate was H. Goulden and the third mate was Derek Cooke. I was a deck apprentice. I have photos of the Ajana but I expect you'd have a photo now from the earlier replies.
When was your dad on the "Ajana", and what was his position?
Regards,
Graham Elliott

Hi Susan.
I was on the Ajana, way back in 1958.It was such
a long time ago,I cant recall the names of anyone
I sailed with.If you click onto SS STEAMSHIPS you
will find 3/4 photos of the Ajana. She went aground
off the South American coast, and was lost.

David,Please refer to my post #3 in this thread !
Just for clarification, and in the interest of accuracy:
There were three vessels of this name in the company. The subject of this topic is the Second one of 1950.She was sold in 1964 and again in 1968,and was named PATI when she went aground off South Africa ,not South America,in 1976.
2 Pictures here of the 1950 vessel:-
