Apples Galore
We have two apple trees, this year only one had apples on it, only a small tree but with around two hundred apples, or there was, I had put a net over it to keep the birds out; not that there are many birds around these days,. A family of three Parrots came down every morning to eat the dropped ones, no sweat, then the big Kurrowongs joined in, they started to rip at the net and in a period of two weeks not so many apples left.
Today my wife said you will have to pull the net around what is left or there will be no apple pies this year, when I came in and told her that there was only about 15 apples left she hit the wall. I think that we had a bad time with Covid but te bird population have been destroyed by bird flue.h. And the bees have been hit badly by another deasase

Re: Apples Galore
Des, we have 3 apple, 1 Pear,1Plum 1 Nectarine trees.
I do not use nets, have seen what can happen to birds who get caught in them.
We get Green Parrots, same ones each year I think and some time Lorikeets.
One apple tree I allow them to have in total, not very good apples.
The Plums we share with them along with the Pears, they go for the top ones, leave the lower ones alone.
But we get great pleasure watching the antics of the birds when they come to feed, the local Blackbird sometimes joins in.
The Nectarines never get very big so they can have them all.

Happy daze John in Oz.

Seems the only thing missing John is the Partridge in a Pear Tree
