I have been involved in genealogy for years and have traced my family history back to before 1066 on my mother side, and a five hundred years on my fathers. I started back before computers made it easier. I had a clue on great-great grandparents buried in Walthamstow, London cemetery. I was going to London on business and stayed an extra day and tubed and bused my way to Walthamstow and in the downpouring rain in mid winter, managed to find the cemetery. I had the grave plot number, but it still took a bit of time to find the grave, only to find on the gravestone that the engraving said, "Mum and Dad." To use an English expression..."We were not amused."

Can see that you also see the merit in tracing family trees through the female line as it is only their word as to who sired the baby lol. Even that can be doubtful with them as well
