Cromwell and Rosslyn.

Hi everyone,
It might just be my way of thinking, but why during their conquest throughout this country causing destruction to castles, churches and every thing they though was worth destroying did the Roundheads under the command of Cromwell when they reached and Rosslyn in Scotland leave it practically unscathed. Was it because of Cromwell being an educated gentleman he appreciated and liked what he saw at Rosslyn?.
One wonders if he was a Freemason or even a Knight Templar.

It was only Rosslyn Chapel that was left untouched as Cromwell was a Freemason of very High Standards! And the Chapel was a Freemason Shrine .
Also in 1650 General Monk destroyed the Castle there but again the Chapel was left untouched, same reason, he too was a Freemason.

Visited Rosslyn chapel some years ago, very interesting mouldings covering ceiling and walls. After the Da Vinci code film, great one as was its follow up, they built a new information center there to handle the increase in tourism.

If anyone studies architecture and knows the period that Rosslyn castle as is sometimes called will know that the stone carvings on some of the pillars represent tobacco leaves which points to the strong possibilities that masons were over in America before Colombus and tobacco was known earlier than thought. Also points to the fact that Freemasons were in Scotland and were the remnants of the Knights Templar. The bloke who wrote the book and the series is or was not a Freemason but made a point of coming out with a lot of factual facts about the Order . He did well for freemasonry in general as after the publicity of films and books the joining rate went up. I visited it a number of years ago and had a guided tour , was interesting in the facts as it had a definite old susceptable feeling of ancient freemasonry about it and most points made sense. For those interested the origin of the Knights Templar began in A.D. 1118.
Two valiant Knights , Hugo de Payens and Godfrey de St. Omer, seeing the dreadful miseries and cruelties inflicted by the barbarian infidels upon the Christian pilgrims while travelling to the Holy places in Palestine first conceived the idea of forming a body which would give succour and shelter to the wandering Christians. They were joined by 6 other knights of equal renown. This was the very basic beginnings of the Order
It was 2 centuries later after flourishing for all that time with various armies led by the Knights Templar . It took as said in 1307 the base motives for personal gain by Philip of France and Pope Clement V to disband and destroy the Order. Now this is in literature probably also held in the Vatican. And as have said all claims to Devil craft and such like levelled at them centuries ago was lifted quite recently in our lifetime.

Hi everyone,
Before he became King, George VI was Grand Master Mason.
In order to be elected as such, he had to be a .member of a Scottish Lodge.
He chose Glàmis Lodge 99 a village Lodge, which met near the ancestral home of his wife.
He was installed as Grand Master Mason of Scotland on 30th November 1936.
When he ascended to the throne as King George VI he resigned from all his Masonic offices.
The Craft did not wish to lose the connection with one who had been so active in Freemasonry and the suggestion that he be appointed a Past Grand Master was greeted with acclamation.
