Re: Coal plants Worldwide
I did hear that a coal exports from Oz are now at one of the highest levels ever.
But only about one third of the world are doing anything about the so named, 'climate change'.
I would have considered that it would need all the world to act if it is that bad.

For all its investment in "Green Energy" Ratcliffe on Soar Coal Fred power station has been running online for he best part of 9 months.
If you check the status of the UK National Grid, there are days when wind and solar power are much good as a chocolate teacup.

Re: Coal plants Worldwide
There are and will be more problems with unreliable 'green' energy than you can poke a stick at.
here in Oz we have been encouraged to put solar panels on our houses, even gov incentives such as half price.
Used to get 66 cents per kwh for all surplus put back into grid, slowly cut down to now just 12.5.
But it will soon be none as companies who run the grid come to understand it cannot take all this spare electric in, the grid is designed to put it out not take in.

Yes Oz should have gone nuclear years ago. We still export uranium for other clever people to use.

Re: Coal plants Worldwide
Had it not been for the State of Victoria under Labor govs in the 1970's it would have happened.
But they scared the life out of the people in an effort to protect the power industry which at that time was the most heavally unionised public sector.
Times have change and there is a push by as numb of concerned person s for at least an enquiry into the industry.

Re: Coal plants Worldwide
Lewis, the federal gov wants to but most gas in in the states and the current Labor ones, reliant on Green preferences in elections say no gas.
We do however export a lot, but here in Victoria we sit oin the largest gas filed in the country but our state gov being labor have locked it uo.

Re: Coal plants Worldwide
Lewis you and I and many others see the potential for Natural Ga, unfortunately the Greens have the loudest voices.
The MOS on Sunday, reported that a number of farmers fields throughout the UK have been given planning permission build large battery storage buildings. In the event of a lack of power these batteries kick in and supply power.
If one cell should fail the whole complex will explode and the result will be similar to that in Lebanon a few months ago.

Re: Coal plants Worldwide
Hi Lewis.
Don't be fooled over our natural Gas, the Govt told the gas producers that they must keep gas for the Australian domestic market, but there is bigger profits to be made by selling overseas, and that is where most of our gas production goes. Money, money money.

Re: Coal plants Worldwide
Lewis you are correct, an electric car must travel 86,000 Kliometers to negate the emissions created during manufacturing of the batteries.
They also have a limited shelf life loosing a percentage of capacity on every recharge.
The whole issue is driven by those with the most to gain, not to save the planet but rather their back pocket.
London Taxis have to go all electric yet as one cabbie told me there is not a charging spot in central London.
Our state gov has imposed a $300 per year on all electric cars which they say will pay for the charging stations, the ones that will be privately owned.
But the Liberal gov agree that coal and gas along with nuclear are the way to go, but the Greens of course say no.
If they had their way we would all be sitting under a coconut tree making grass skirts.
