I am the very happy owner of a British Bulldog and my wife and i adore him.
It's very funny as the general population of dog owners think that this is a fierce breed.
They are not brave, heroic dogs they are expected to be going by their appearance.

Youngest daughter has an English bulldog and it's as soft as sh**te, runs the house, sleeps 15 hours a day, barks wanting a treat whenever the fridge door is opened or if she sees her reflection in a mirror.

May not be as many think i know, but one thing for sure if they latch on to something (Like another Dog) they very seldom let go, as their short Snout (Face) gives them an edge on others with longer Snouts, as in it is much much harder to get the Jaw Open !
Great Dogs . I love them, although i dont have one the little Pug is also short snouted and also has that ability to latch on tightly!

both my dogs on my avatar have left me now anyway if you want a bad dog get a poodle i have worked in thousands of houses and many had dogs all breeds but a tip you can stroke a poodle for an hour and then it will go for you my old mate always said the best way to train a poodle is your third lace hole up its ar.e hole i always steerd clear of them there is a fella around here he spent 50 000 quid on two x bulls they call them he had them flown from Peru and the pups are worth 15 grand each all the dogs know me in the park and they all come to me shame i cant have another dog? jp

A vet once told me to unlatch a dog with a good grip get a stick an whack the said dog across their rear end. Preferably under the tail including anything in that area....he assured me works a treat. LOL

yes Victoria just a tap does the trick after a few weeks the dog stops pulling my toby was 12 and a half stone when i first got him and the lead was always slack i miss him every day after my opp 6 years ago he sat at my bedside all night just watching over me give me a dog anyday?jp

As a lad we had both dogs and cats.
But we have only had cats since we were married.
All have in one way or another been recuse cats.
This current one though is very different, some cross breed with all sorts in him including either Siamese or Burmese.
Had a Unrinary Tract infection and three days in vet hospital, cost me an arm and a leg plus a knee cap.
But had I not had it done he would have croked in terrible pain and her indoors would not have been happy.
He follows her around like a dog.

I am of the opinion that any dog no matter the breed can be controlled and kept good by an owner who is prepared to take time to train them correctly.
Too many get a dog and just allow kit to go on the way it wishes, these sort of people should not be allowed t own one.
If you have children you train them, or should though some do not, the same applies to a dog
