Hey Ted, On the Iberia my cabin was named 'Anchor Hotel'.
When the anchor was let go, I was almost thrown out of my bunk.
And that was only back in the 50ies.

    Hi Dennis
I was on the Iberia 63 to 1964. We were berthed in Peak 67 which was over the anchor. We were also a floating hotel for 1964 Olympics in Japan.

ED's M/V Perang , I had a deck steam line going along the deckhead going through my cabin which supplied steam winch directly above the cabin. What a racket when in port.

    HI All.
I was on an old tub going to St Johns, forecastle accommodation old stove pipe fire in the middle of the cabin bunks around the side of streaming bulkheads, seamen starboard side, firemen port side. that was dodging seas most days, young Peggy was a tall young lad which was just as well as he could see what was coming when he brought the meals up and took evasive action.
    Cheers Des

    Hi Vernon.
That video reminded me of this old pick, I was on the British Builder going across the Australian Bight , great days especially if you were on the wheel watching the waves come at you.
    Cheers Des

One advantage of weather such as that, no need to go outside to clean the windows.!

West Coast of India monsoon season is not a lot of fun on a on any ship but is a real pain on a Moss type LNG Carrier 30 degree rolls the norm for several days and a couple of months every year. Also why do ships bunks as a rule face fore & aft, ships roll more than they pitch.ghasha-9038452-lng_tanker-ship-961_ship_profile_main.jpg
