Invictus games
Watched the opening if the Invictus games last from Toronto, found it quite moving to hear the accounts of some of the participants injuries. credit has to be given to these wounded warriors. Of course, apart from prince Harry, who by the way gave an inspiring, well presented speech, you had the usual bunch of photo op seeking polis looking very important and concerned for the athletes. Our PM, to my mind, played to the crowd for his own benefit. to give the impression he really cares for the well being of our wounded vets is a joke. if the government cared that much they would treat them far better than they do now....Now I am wondering how much coverage these games are going to get on TV, probably not too much. They will of course show the slightest glimpse of the girlfriend hoping she will be by the side of harry... remains to be seen.
regards, stan

Re: Invictus games
Personally I thought Mike Myers and Prince Harry both spoke from their hearts, but neither of them are politicians. Good luck to all taking part, Stan, we are getting an hour of headlines every evening for the next eight days.

Re: Invictus games
These Men and Women have my utmost admiration.
How is it that these Heroes, who have been blown up, shot and mutilated in mind and body can do what they do, ?They shame the rest of society.
.
and in my small avenue we have men? who cannot work because of a "Bad Back" and are collecting thousands of pounds in Benefits and get Free cars on the NHS.
When I go to Town all I see is hundreds of people on walking sticks, obviously not working.
. These people should be Shamed into doing The Benefit Games, or their Benefits are stopped.

Re: Invictus games
when thinking about the games them troops have been very badly done to not only by the services but the government? no longer troops no longer entitled for housing they go and try to get housing there is none for them we can take in up to 300.000 extra people some that will kill us were are they living places are found for them? a member of our family lost his mind out there at 18 years of age picking a 6 years old girl who had been shot in the head for smiling at his troop that is a lot to take in for a young lad? jp

Brian, these are the real every day hero's who put their life on the line for the benefit of others, not like some tossers who kick a ball around on match day and are called hero's by the media.

Happy daze John in Oz.

Re: Invictus games
That word 'Hero' is overused.
Remember doing a post about it some years back.
