Re: newspapers
Was a time here in Oz when all shipping movements within Australian waters were in the papers each day. Also all aircraft movements in and out.
Now all gone, if you want that news now you have to ask Mr. Google.

Re: newspapers
Even our local rag used to give all the shipping details along with the Tide Tables for the Thames; it was always interesting
to see what ships were due in London and gave you a chance to take photo's etc. cheers JFC

Re: newspapers
The dying age of the daily newspaper.
Not sure how they are selling in UK but here sales are falling like a lead balloon.
One of the major dailies is to cut out all sub editors and most of the photographers as last year it lost some $250 mil

Re: newspapers
Via the shipping papers I too would track my best mate who was on another company and would see if we would catch up either in UK or some overseas port o ``pass like ships in the dark ``...............regards Brian W.

Re: newspapers
#8... That's because of the dearth of the backyard Dunny John. Since the birth of the inside toilets and the lower price of recycled toilet paper, there is very little use for newspapers today. Anyhow they will soon have a controlling interest on the Internet. Puts a lot of paper boys out of work. Probably a lot of moronic reporters as well, so the political owner can tweet whatever he wants. He gets a lot of his ground making news already himself from the internet, so what you get second time round will also be re-cycled. Cheers JWS
