One thing for sure Barmston Drain was never in an 'abandonded industrial area' especially where my ex girlfriend was sighted, as I lived adjacent to it surrounded by lush green fields.

All the telephone boxes were cream and green, there were a lot of free numbers, cheap rates and the telephone book contained all kinds of facts, not just about Hull but about the world and this was in the 1950's. When BT took them over the citizens of Hull got a shock about increased charges

In the early sixties the Hull College of Technology was the best around, I did my 2nd Class Motor, 1st Class Motor and Steam Endorsement tickets there, passing at the first attempt and with just enough sea time to be able to sit. All thanks to Messrs Heath, Taylor and the other tutors whose names I have forgotten. Regards Peter in NZ.
