Re: Cyber Crime Reporting
It certainly should be John and I am going to make this good point to the government office handling this. I would like to think that this initiative will become universal.
Richard
PS: this is how I responded to the report: Ben and Team
We enjoy your 'Fresh Air Daily' News. Your item on Cybercrime is highly appreciated and I have extended the initiative by posting your report to my Merchant Navy Old Pals site that has in excess of 10,000 members across the Globe.
Well done and keep up the good work.

Re: Cyber Crime Reporting
Hi Richard.
A good warning especially for people who buy on line. We don't buy anything on line as we don't own any credits cards, mobile phones, only this old computer, which I hope the cyber criminals might not be able to crack; as I have trouble operating it as it is. I did know an old lady who lived in the Blue Mountains who lost around $60,000 by giving her details over the web.
Cheers Des

Re: Cyber Crime Reporting
Soliciting on the phone by cold callers could well come under the cyber crime call edict. Unsolicited phone calls that require personal information is in my opinion illegal.

Re: Cyber Crime Reporting
I had an email from a bank to which they dont but in this case they did?? knowing something was fishy I contacted the bank{I got the number from the phone book} the email was from the bank I was passed to the fraud people the email told me someone had tried to withdraw amounts of money from my account ??? I did not have an account with that bank? that stumped them . I asked if this call was being recorded yes the reply are you talking to john pruden yes the reply? right then seeing you are talking to me your bank has emailed me I give you permission to close the account and share any money between the staff at that branch the inspector went quiet for a few seconds are you sure yes I said that will treat any bastard that tries to rip me off again. I do not deal with banks don't understand how they work and don't want to?? jp

Re: Cyber Crime Reporting
The scam that we had recently was from a London number "I have caller id",was an Asian sounding voice, and said I was due in the Hammersmith Crown Court. "First clue Crown Court"and that I owed £ 90 from a credit card payment, 2nd clue, I don't use , I then asked if I could pay this debt off using my debit card, oh yes she said, would have cleaned me out if I had given to her, took great delight to tell her what to do, in my best fluent mate lot speak. I phoned the fraud line to the police, and gave them the London number. Did not hear from the police the outcome, but these people are banking on finding someone confused enough to give them their bank card details, kt
