A Bacon& Black Nudger was bacon and black pudding on a small Vienna roll. You could have whatever nudger you wanted depended on the filling. All it was was a crusty roll like a Vienna only about 6 inches long, the girls in the dock canteens had a good sense of humour and gave them the name nudger.Funny enough some of the better class pubs away from the docks caught onto this and advertised Chicken Nudgers on their boards,I don't think they knew what the dock road girls were referring to when they gave it this name.I used to go to a pub every Tuesday lunch time with two other guys from work the Chicken Nudgers were 2/6d each=7/6d for three the lager was 2/6d a pint =7/6d for three.so one guy would get three nudgers and the other two would get three pints just worked out right.

Reply 11 reminds me of a club in NSW that we some times go to. They do the steak challenge on for one week each month. It consists of a one kilo rump steak with fries and salad. Know one of the chefs there so get it cooked to my liking. On a very hot grill plate five seconds each side and it is cooked enough for me. First time I had one I was given a pot of beer after. Was the first person since thye started it ti finish the steak and all on their own. Most either fell by the way side or got some one to help them finish it.
As to peas, In South Australia they have 'Pie floater' Bowl of thick pea soup with a meat pie in that and tomato sauce on top. But they are an odd lot in that state.
