In Montevideo there is a Big Memorial to the Graf Spey, on the quayside, see photos, I was there on QM2 in 2006.

I know I have travelled a bit but Boy! sure couldn't come near you on that.

The UCL liner Carnarvon Castle of 926 was converted into an Armed Merchant Ship and fought a battle in the South Atlantic. She put into Montevideo for repairs, being a neutral port the only repairs that were possible, was to make her seaworthy. Steel plate was taken from the Admiral Graf Spey.
