For the guys in Uk, i dont suppose our shipmates abroad can receive BBC, but tonight on BBC tv is a program on the rebuilding of the Cutty Sark following the fire. She is due to open to the public again very soon. Should be very interesting, regards all Keith Tindell

Just in from work, 3 hours on the M25, MAY HAVE MISSED THE PROGRAMME - Will double check and hopefully see it on catch up TV.
Of much interest to me: few realise that she has travelled across the world, sailing under both the Red Ensign and the Portuguese flag, visiting every major port in the world through the course of her working life. In admiration of her beauty and in recognition of her fame, she was preserved for the nation by Captain Wilfred Dowman in 1922.
Cutty Sark was placed in Greenwich as a memorial to the Merchant Navy, particularly those who lost their lives in the two world wars. The sacrifice of the Merchant Marine for their country is still too little known and Maurice Lambert’s memorial to the Merchant Navy, previously positioned on the wall of the dry berth, will be displayed more prominently on conclusion of The Cutty Sark Conservation Project.
Since then, the old clipper has been berthed in Falmouth and Greenhithe, finally arriving at her current resting place in Greenwich in 1954.
