Greetings Dennis.
Was with shell as an apprentice from March 81 toFeb 84, 3rd Mate till April 84 then then made redundant. Rejoined later as second mate from 1992 to 1995 including 3 trips on Norrisia sailing to the Kittiwake,, usually referred to as Brocky or Badger. Most of my time spent on black oilers, 1 T boat, 1 Jap E boat and one G / Fish boat

two trips with shell
just looking at some folks memories with shell tankers i had two trips on two of shells ships back in late 1958 / 1959 joined the sts Hadriania in Ellesmere port as 2nd cook /baker 8 8 58 we where going to Aruba but only got into the Irish sea , Broke down so back to the Ellesmere port for repairs a change of orders , with a nice trip up to Denmark instead, we paid of on 18 11 58 my next shell job was from south shiels on 15/ 12/ 58 to 19/3/ 59 out the gulf then back to the isle of grain, it was a good trip but not to much in the way of air cons in those days so it got a bit hot at times still it was a good life and i would do the same again , thank you for the memories it helps to keep my 78 year brain ticking over Lennon/ in Aus

I sailed on some Shell tankers.
The TECTUS, a T2 in 1954, AB, in Cuacao three Firemen skinned ouit as we were going east of Suez and they thought they were in for a two year jag.
I went Firemen water tender then. home two months later. the Firemen were starved like skeletons as they had no money to buy food in Gaol.
.
Next NORISSIA in 1955/6 two months.
.
then AURIS, in 1959, the experimental only `Pure Gas Turbine` ship in the world. We had Scientists instead of Engineers on that one. Just went to Curacao and stayed for over two months alongside. A great job. I got shanghaied on a Topsail Schooner for six weeks and she was still there when I got back.
Cheers
Brian
