hi guys, wonder if anyone out there was on the hygromia in 66, we did hawai, lagos, freetown, rio , recefe, belem cardon, b a , and used to bunker in curacao,was a very good boat to be on,would love to meet some of the guys from that trip, alun davis

Hi stagn here I did a six weeks trip on the Hygromia, in early 1965 down to curaso curacas pt prince etc good trip but too short,was expecting to be out longer,but worked out for the best as when we got back there was new s that my dad was seriously ill,regards Stan.

sotty about the bad news, she was a decent bucket , was on her 9 months, my best trip, normal thing with her would be half way across the atlantic, then they would resell the cargo about turn and back to curacoa, was a good crew, even the old man spoke to me once told me to get out of the ffn way, ha ha, was that old deckie on board when you were there, used to be ace making canvas and rope deck shoe, and other stuff, was really old he was in his 70s and never paid off, would never get another ship, real old seadog, used to talk about the seaunder sail when he was pissed, he paid 50 guilders in happy valley, for an all nighter,he had a smile for months, anyway good luck gotta go for a bike ride while its sunny here in plymouth, bye for now alun

Hi Alun, Was on Hygromia 27th april to 10 november 1965 as 2/cook & baker capt was M P Shillito paid of in cardiff ,joined in Marseille did a few ports in meddi can,t remember other ports rememberthe cook was a right prick ex army no wonder they through him out. office said they would put him with a experience 2/cook as he was a first tripper,could,nt figger out why my bread wasn,t rising while having breakfast as I was nowhn for my bread making had a good name, about 2 weeks into trip galley boy told me the cook use to slam the door on the prover while I was out the galley. So after that ai never left the galley even for meals. Good bread from then on. take care mate. BOB THOMAS. Ellesmere Port.

Hi Alun. Yes, Trevor (my hubby) was also on the Hygromia from Nov 65 to Nov 66, so you must have been on it together!
