I have a friend , recently departed, and know that he served in the Royal Navy in the 1960 s, I am wondering if I am able to research his RN history ?, this would be of great interest to his daughter. I guess Hugh would be able to supply the answe to this, but any help would be appreciated, kt

Re: Records
Hi Keith,
It depends what you have in the way of a record of service of his career. His service record would have been given to him on leaving the service; however, if there is no longer a service record available his next of kin could also apply to the MOD for a copy. So firstly find out if his daughter has his service record and if so you can post the ship names and you should quite easily find out via the internet where these ships went, get photos and the like. If no service record, I would advise you get that first as you will have little chance of finding out anything at all without it.
Regards
Hugh
