May i put forward my Apology for these off Topic happenings.
Unfortunately at times Threads will be a bit spoilt by this sort of thing.
But the main issue is that you have received plenty of good response and help. I am glad that at least it got results!

Hugh, god bless him, recommended contact with Maritime Archives here in Canada where in fact the 1952, 1953 logs of the SS Largs Bay are stored. Thanks Hugh
I was fortunate enough to receive all the records related to my father's last voyage including the time and location when his body was committed to the sea - 05.00 October 11, 1952 14,41N 42,17E
Regrettably this area is currently in turmoil due to attacks on shipping vessels and one wounders if or when it will be stable enough to venture a visit.
