Port Alfred carpenter
I've just joined the forum today with the help of my daughter.
I joined Port Alfred in Yokohama in dry dock on the crusader run to New Zealand and back. Signed up for 9 months, came home 5 years later with wife and child, who'd have thought!
Anyone remember my dear friend David Peterson boswain, or myself John Sholly (Sjollema) ship's carpenter. Would be interested to hear from you.

Port Alfred
Hello Dick and John W
Really pleased to hear from you, dad was on board 1967-69 as ship's carpenter, I'll give him a nudge if he can remember what month he hopped aboard in Japan. What capacity were you on the ship?
I'm seeing dad this afternoon so I'll pass on your name John (apologies for late reply - your posting didn't pop up as an alert in my work e-mail). I would have been surprised if you didn't know dad if you knew Dave since they were rather firm drinking buddies
I'm going to attempt to drag dad into the 21st century and get him online so he can get in contact direct!
Cheers
Livy Sjollema
