Hi Chaps.
Were any of you on the akassa palm which left Hull around april 1959? My husband sailed on her and many other merchant ships,he is a Liverpudlian called William Clarke.He had quite a decent book until he sailed on this ship-I have to laugh although at the time it was shocking ! He and another chap..Chris I think, stowed a girl away on board..it was in the sunday express, news of the world, and the Liverpool echo.Of course they made a grand love story out of it..complete rubbish..but I would dearly love to get more info.about it for him.Thankyou to anyone who can help.

Exert fron Hull Daily Mail 1959

1959 .. Police were scouring Hull docklands for a teenage girl stowaway who gave them the slip when the cargo ship Akassa Palm arrived in Alexandra Dock from the West Coast of Africa. The girl's flight was discovered when a ship's officer unlocked the door of the cabin where she had been held. It is thought she may have escaped through a porthole.
