    Default Capt Tug Wilson

Having sailed with OCL for 6 years I came across Capt Tug Wilson who as anyone who sailed with him would testify he was different from most Captains, don;t get me wrong he was a nice guy.

Having now lived in Australia for 50 odd years my wife & I did another trip to the UK in 2019 where we found ourselves in Southhampton, in Southampton we stayed at the Mecure Southampton Dolphin Hotel, High st. well almost next door was what looked like a bombed out church from the 2nd world war, normally I wouldn't have looked twice but what caught my eye was the Merchant Navy symbol on the huge entry gates.

Went through the gates & had a sticky beak, not a lot to see as it was bombed out, what did catch my eye was on one of the remaining walls was a plaque dedicated to Tug , there was only about half a dozen plaques there.

i just found it interesting & maybe if anyone who new him may pop in & take a look.

    Hi Peter.
One would think that this long after the wars end something would have been done about it, must be the only building that hasn't been either pulled down or restored.

Yes Peter i too went back to Southampton (Old Stomping Ground) a few Years back now, also stayed at a nice Hotel quite close by. I recall seeing that old Church and the MN Symbol, actually was it not a MN Anchor ?? Cant rightly recall.
I went back for a small MN Reunion with a few of Lads of the past, we had ca great time. Sadly one of them passed on not too long after i had left. Sad!!
