Re: Cunards new Queen
She is due in Liverpool on the 3rd June. This is supposed to be her official naming ceremony. Hope to go down to see her from Wallasey.
This is her itinerary for her visit to Liverpool.

Another New ship on her maiden voyage is
Royal Caribbean's Icon of the Seas boasts a length of 1,200 feet and accommodates over 10,000 people.
A passenger died after jumping overboard on Sunday morning, shortly after the ship departed Florida for its week-long Caribbean adventure. The man's identity remains unknown, the New York Post reported.
The incident occurred roughly 300 miles out of PortMiami, according to CruiseHive.
The Icon of the Seas paused its journey for two hours while the crew assisted the Coast Guard in their search and rescue efforts.
Tragically, the passenger, who had jumped overboard, was retrieved but succumbed to his injuries despite initial signs of life, as reported by CruiseHive.
Guests onboard shared videos of the rescue mission on social media, expressing a mix of shock and concern.
Tragedy struck the maiden voyage of the world's largest cruise ship, the Icon of the Seas. A passenger died after jumping overboard on Sunday morning, shortly after the ship departed Florida for its week-long Caribbean adventure. The man's identity remains unknown, the New York Post reported.

May have had a bad day on the stock Market. It seems that every time a big luxury Liner starts her voyages someone jumps. In my 16 years at sea I never saw anyone jump, except in Aus or NZ.

Re: Cunards new Queen
Chinese crews always had a tendency to jump in the USA Des, Indian crews in the UK , and British crews in Australalashia . Lost half the crew the first night I joined the Maratha Endeavour in Philadelphia. Even though we employed Pinkerton guards on ship to stop them going ashore , which was part of their agreement. There was a 2000 $ bond on every China man in the 1960s. It was an organised racket by a gangster mob in Hong Kong called the Happy Villagers Association who put them in line of work mostly in the kitchens of big hotels
And diners. I found the paperwork they left behind and had translated. Even 3 of their replacements never arrived at ship as they jumped in New York International Airport. The owner much against his preferences had to recrew the vessel with lascar seamen when we at last reached Japan, flown out from then Bombay. A lot more to this story but may have told before. JS

Re: Cunards new Queen
I have noticed with some Royal Carribean ships such as this one with some 10,000 bloods on board often sails only in certain parts.
May be due to the size as there are many ports that cannot accommodate ships of that size.
I for one would never even consider sailing on one that size, anything over about 3800 is too many for my liking.

Happy daze John in Oz.

Re: Cunards new Queen
We've just been on the Sky Princess, never again. Elbow room is the key word, even on going ashore. Most places we popped ashore for a walk because our Grandson was with us, were rammed out with English, US, Chinese, and all sorts like us off the bleedin boat. Oh, and not forgetting the LGBTWXYXZ people off the boat, don't wanna be seen as excluding people do I.
We queued up to get off, queued up to get out of the dock, queued up for buses, taxis, shops, even walking in most streets amounted to queuing. Oh! and the worst bit, queuing to get back on board. No wonder we don't usually bother going ashore these days, and stay aboard to relax in the empty spaces in the sun.

Never been on a cruise , I do not like being around lots of people. I am now a non flyer not been on a plane for at least 6 years, not a fear of flying just get peed off with watching the behaviour of some at times.
Concerning these mega Cruise shits looking at the hull form nothing more than a large barge with a block of flats welded on the deck. I reckon a disaster waiting to happen.
Talking about barges have discussed with my wife maybe a river cruise would suit us. A pipe dream now though

In Swansea we signed on some new crew in afternoon and sailing soon after, we were approaching the lock I was leaning o the rail watching proceedings when this new AB stops beside me and asks where we going, I said Rotterdam, then where? he said, I dunno we been on the coast for last six weeks. He went ape, I was told we going deep sea he said, then disappears, Next thing he reappears with a holdall and straight over the wall onto dock side and skinned out at a rate of knots. Gotta be some sort of record?
