East AFrican Rift
Found an article on the net, which I don't believe has been featured anywhere.
If you google east African rift there are plenty of sites giving information.

Re: East AFrican Rift
Been reports in various media recently that has suddenly become longer and wider over the last year, ah! well! that should make it easier to decide which half is grabbed by the West and which half by China, but methinks that the West has missed the boat on that score as China is everywhere on that Continent and Russia is establishing a base in Djibouti. I believe that Bremerhaven is also allowing the Chinese facilities in that port with a view to managing it, we live in blinkered times

Re: East AFrican Rift
As the saying goes you live and learn. I have always known it as the Great African Rift having googled it that is incorrect, Your name for it is correct. I have been fortunate having worked and travelled down a lot of it from Sudan through Kenya and on to Tanzania. I was a lot more adventurous in my younger days. Alas because of ongoing civil disturbances and the African equivalent of highwaymen and other bandits it is no longer safe to travel along the East African Rift.
