Rogue waves
Years ago many scoffed at the idea of rogue waves, not anymore though. This wave has been recorded off the coast of British Columbia, certainly wouldn't want to be anywhere near it either at sea or when it hits land. Hope Den is living well above sea level in B.C.

Re: Rogue waves
#1 John during the years I sometimes wish to forget, I can remember One winter in the North Sea where the rig we were stationed at reported a wave of 100 feet going through its legs , I found it hard to believe at the time , but when you consider wave height can be measured as the height on top of the swell in the same direction the implications can be bigger than expected. We finished about 40 miles off station , so have every reason on reconsideration he was correct in his wave height measurements . Cheers JS

Re: Rogue waves
Might be seeing one of those soon, the weather warning for now has turned to red. Just been out in the garden and battened everything down. Don't ever recall a red warning in uk myself, could be wrong. kt

Re: Rogue waves
Hope that the weather there is not too bad, as i did hear from my Daughter Yesterday saying that the UK was expecting some very large Storms and high Winds!
That Wave does look a Giant!
Wow!
Never had to go through such a Wave , but did get to see some large ones in the Bay of Biscay , one time especially when they really came way over the Bow of the Stirling Castle Keith T may have been on at the time as well, it was a really bad trip!

Re: Rogue waves
Coming back on the Pretoria we stopped in Madera and cases of tomatoes were loaded on to the bow deck.
From memory about 100 of them stacked high.
Fine until we hit the bay and the waves hit us.
They did unload a dozen or so cases in Southampton I was told.

Happy daze John in Oz.

Re: Rogue waves
John A.
Don't know if it was a rogue wave that swept me over the side of the Basford one Winter in the North Atlantic, but it was big enough to roll us over on our beam ends. And not forgetting that the Queen Mary's wheelhouse windows were smashed in in a storm off Sable Island and her wheelhouse windows where 90feet above sea level, so there are some big rouges out there. And with Climate change , who knows they may be getting bigger.
