Liverpool
At a secret meeting of UNESCO in China, Liverpool have been stripped of their world heritage status.
Apparently the City was warned that the over development of the docks would damage the city's image
The over development includes new housing, Everon's new ground and a host of other detrimental effects.
The City ignored the warning and carried on regardless.

Re: Liverpool
UNESCO, Can shove it where the sun dont shine, The decision was made in China as has been said every scouser i have spoke to welcomes the idea of regeneration of the waterfront and the new Everton stadium which swallows up the run down disgrace the Bramley Moore dock has become, I would like to see more investment in the rest of the scrap heap docks and to hell with the Capital of culture status its jobs this City needs for our youth not picture post cards. Re: Liverpool
Seems as though those UNESCO Chinese whispers hadn't considered the passenger cruise terminal at the old landing stage. Wherelse in the world would visiting passengers arrive and step ashore virtually in the centre of a seaport. No rickshaws, no tuk tuks, no limousines, just a pleasant stroll and you're immersed in Scouse Culture.
Bring on the stadia, bring on the hotels that provide enjoyment and employment. Tear down those sad docks of yesteryear and build a future for those that follow.

Re: Liverpool
Because the conference was held in China don't blame China , find out who else was at that meeting. There are many countries who go to those meetings looking for places to invest, maybe they missed out on Liverpool.
If it was the same conference, it slated Australia's failure to look after the Barrier Reef, which our Gov't scoffed at despite the reef starting to disintegrate.

Re: Liverpool
FRom information the other day the Reef is begining to grow again, so much for our Chinky friends.
But from what I know of Scoucers most will tell Chinky Charlie where to go, they are a very proud people who will not be told by outsiders what to do or think.
Liverpool is a great and proud city with more heritage than many understand, they will not be beaten down.

Happy daze John in Oz.
