ss RIEHER
R235941 Arthur John Harvey
Am trying to trace any information on the following. The ship was S.S. Rieher which grounded at Dimlington East Yorkshire, just south of Bridlington. I believe this happened between the two world wars; apparently she refloated on the next tide. Any information re date, etc., would be appreciated, I know it is a long shot but you never know what can turn up on this website.
There were two S.S.Rieher, one built in 1870 and called the Heron OWNED BY THE GENERAL STEAM Navigation Co. who in 1897 sold it to the ARGO line
The second S.S. Richer was built in 1909 and 1925 taken over by the Roland; Bremen then in 1933 sold to the ARGO line. One clue is on the painting of her grounded the funnel was red.
I think the one that grounded is most likely to be the second one.
