Although Merchant Navy Day in Australia was only officially introduced a couple of years ago it would seem a long time ago Merchant Navy Day existed before in Australia. Going through some of my old memorabilia, I found three badges to back this up (see attach.) Notice the prices on them 1 shilling on two of them, 6d on the other. Unable to trace the origin.
All three free to a good Aussie home. Any takers.

Not sure about this Billy as no one here recalls the badges. But it may be similar to Legacy week when badges are sold to raise money for veterans, similar to poppy day. Judging by the state and style of the badges a mate of mine thinks this may have been back in the 50's.

Happy daze John in Oz.
