    Post 19th Century Schooner Mercury

    Hi,
This is to bring to members' notice a site that I have constructed telling of the twenty years afloat, trading across the world of the Aberdeen built vessel Mercury. Registered in Aberdeen the vessel with Captain Thomas in command sailed in those years of the 1870s-1880s when the sailing trade struggled to make a living. From an extensive archive the story told paints a picture of one captain's and one ship's toil in difficult conditions. As my research proceeds so the story will gradually unfold.
The site can be accessed at https://weebitsofhistory.wordpress.c...ooner-mercury/
