Default getting round the EU literally

I am reading in the Poole harbour news that there are plans for a new ferry service to run from Poole to Morocco , this is to half the time scale for produce from Spain, this will be in direct competition to Spains tomatoes (tasteless bloody things), lettuce etc. Its not up and running as yet, but could point the way for future trade, i wonder if they would like some fish ??? down in Morocco. The world is a small place now compare to when we went to sea, kt

Funnily enough I just bought a punnet of Morocco Toms yesterday they were cheaper than the Spanish ones. I think Morocco & UK have recently signed a free trade deal.

They are never cheap Lewis, but i can buy Isle of Wight tomatoes all year round, and they really taste like a tomato should, so i would sooner have just one tomato than 5 tasteless ones, not saying Morocco toms are tasteless , have never tried them, kt

Well as soon as the EU realises that trade and embargoes are not a one way street, the better it will be for them. A lot of the tomatoes coming from Spain were actually of Moroccan origin, first being shipped to Spain and trans-shipped to UK, a total of six days, Tanger to Poole is 3 days and from Poole you are only a few miles from the motorway system, so shelf life will be better. There is more than one way to skin a cat.

One thing I do miss about were I lived in France. We had lovely neighbours hardly had to buy fresh vegs when they were in season. I was into growing my own Toms , Cucumbers, Courgettes etc. The flavour of home grown you cannot beat it. Eggs was another thing we were never short of. It was not just a one way street. My wife is an amazing baker , cakes , pastries and bread. One of the favourites our French neighbours liked was Irish soda bread.
Things about what we will miss Fruit & Veg, who will really miss tasteless Spanish strawberries or tasteless Dutch Salad tomatoes.
Must say though fruit and veg bought in a Spanish village market or French tastes a lot better out there than the imported produce we get in the UK. Tomatoes lose there flavour as soon as they are refrigerated as do other Fruit & Veg.

The EU are bricking it , well Germany & France are if the UK can actually make ago of it without them(EU) Not often I agree with Boris but over the NI protocol he is right to call there bluff , take the UK to court, the UK can tie them up for years. Which court are the EU going to take the case EU v UK to ? European court, International court? I wonder what the EU reaction would be if the government just pulled the plug and completely revoked any deal that has been agreed. It is not as if the world economy is booming is it everyone is going through a hard time.

Tony 7, i don't know what the availability of ferry charter is, did it not cause a problem when we first started a ruck with the EU, in a port on the East coast somewhere. I do think that is the way to go, we cannot be held to ransom by the EU and its stupid childish behaviour, I see the first court that would apply in relation to us and the NI protocol, is the European court according to all the reports, well, thats easily sorted, the archers salute, two fingers, kt

That Van de Leyen (or something like that) woman in the EU Commission, got her foot in door due to her fathers connections. She has had several posts apparently, and cocked up every single one, and looks like she going to do the same with this one.
