Re: Heads Up
Thanks Vic, the program at 1930, just before Endeavour there is a program on the river Thames and Docklands, narrated by a boat captain, could be worth a look, kt

Re: Heads Up
Vic, I enjoyed being a guide on the Endeavor while she was in Leith on her tour of the U.K. and Europe in the 1990’s, your heads up brought back fond memories

Re: Heads Up
The replica Endeavor is coming down here soon and on to NZ.
The Abbos and some of the Maoris will be holding protests as they claim the land was stolen from them by Cook.
Hard to discuss with these people as they have it in their minds they are the rightful owners of the lands, not whitey.
When told that had it not been Cook but someone else who may not have treated them so well they will always attempt to put another spin on it.

Maybe we should put in a claim with Italy for what the Romans did?
Or maybe with the French for what the Normans did, oh! hang about, the Normans were actually Vikings so maybe it is Norways' fault with possibly a little contribution from the Danes.

Re: Heads Up
Have been reading a book by Tim Flannery who is a well known climate activist in Australia. His research shows that Europe 100,000 years ago was a series of islands with coral reef. Scientific investigations of the fossils show that they were the forerunners of the Australian Barrier reef.
This would indicate that 100,000 years ago there were boat people who came from Europe with contaminated ballast and landed in Queensland. That makes European boat people older than the local aboriginals.
