Default Drink driving at this time of year

A warning to be careful about drink driving as we are getting close to Christmas and the police are out there in force. Last night I was out for a few drinks in Wick, enjoyed the play by the Wick Players and moved on to Wetherspoons for a few drinks and enjoy some live music. One thing led to another and I had a few too many pints and then went onto the Morgans; not a good idea. Knowing I was over the limit, I decided to leave my car in town and took a taxi home. Sure enough, I passed a police checkpoint at the Thrumster where they were pulling over cars and performing breathalyser tests. Because I was in a taxi they just waved it past. I arrived home safely and without incident, which was a real surprise as I've never driven a taxi before and I am not even sure where I got it from.

Have great and safe Christmas all.

I have stopped drinking so that problem does not arise for me. I have an occasional glass of wine with dinner that's all, Did all my drinking years ago, and since my BIG operation in Honolulu nearly four years ago that nearly killed me, with severe Pancreatitis, I do not touch it now.
Even on the Two month Cruise my Bar Bill was NIL for two of us. I do feel a hell of a lot better for it.
I must admit in the past I have stupidly taken chances and well over the top. so I have seen the light.
    Cheers
    Brian.

    Hi Bill.
We are having a dreadful time of it here in Sydney, two elderly ladies killed by speeding cars in two days neither stopped, but the police will get them they always do. A young couple drugged out of their minds parked in the middle of the road and baby in the back seat. Police in Queensland looking for a stolen four wheel drive traced it by the facebook they had stolen, two girls 14; two boys 14; and the driver 16 the car was a wreck. every day someone killed speeding or drunk, the way they are going we will need many more immigrants soon.
My drinking is one middy when I go to the club. but I have been there, but not in a car.
    Cheers Des

I don't understand why there isn't a zero tolerance in place for drink/driving. If you drink even half a pint then you don't drive, pretty simple really but I daresay those that make the laws of the land are boozers anyway

On a happier note, a very Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year to all my old shipmates and those shipmates on here that I've just never met!

Have a good'un chaps and chappeses

Yes,would agree with the posts here, although now retired for 24 years, I was one of the guys who was called out on a regular basis to cut the people involved with cutting them out of their cars, I am a great believer in shock treatment, lets film every little bit of us cutting body's out of cars, don't spare any of the details, I am convinced it would halve the drink drivers, kt

    Hi Keith.
My wife has always advocated that, she worked in a big hospital and saw the results, one was a bikie who came of at a 100 he was wearing shorts and thongs. But I'm afraid they wont take notice they see all the news reels of these killings on Tv and are getting immune.
    Cheers Des
