Car Transporter.
Some time ago I ran a quiz on a Car Transporter I think it was China Shipping which was berthed here at Seaforth, she was here again recently.Anyway I was having a pint in the Seamens Mission yesterday and I asked the chap who drives the mini bus to pick up the seamen from their ships and run them to the mission or wherever what vehicles this car transporter loaded.None was the answer,it drops off 250 Ford Transit Vans here then moves around the coast dropping off 250 here and there.I always thought Ford Transits were made in this country but apparently not they are made in a couple of different country's including Turkey I think.
The quay here is full of Jaguar Landrover vehicles waiting tobe put aboard one of the ACL ships for the States, this is a rgular thing also.
Regards.

Re: Car Transporter.
Jim, Ford Transits used to be made just outside of
Southampton until a few years ago. The EU gave Ford massive subsidies for Ford to build a new plant in Turkey. Result Ford moved Transit build to Turkey, British workers lost their jobs.

Re: Car Transporter.
When companies take their production overseas, including Europe, We should ban them coming back in, if we cannot ban them, tell all the people Not to buy them.
Hit them in the wallet.
Would you buy Scotch Whisky made in Turkey?? Precisely.

Re: Car Transporter.
Vic are they also made in Brazil, the chap in the mission said the car transporter also had JCB's aboard.David Cameron opened a new JCB factory in Sao Paulo so I am wondering if there was also a Ford Transit factory there.

Re: Car Transporter.
The Southampton Ford a transit site at Southampton is still lying diralect, I believe they are intending to build housing on what is a massive site. Many years ago when I lived in Eastleigh you could see transporters driving up the motorway every 20 -30 minutes. All those jobs now gone , bring Brexit on before they close our country down completely, kt

Re: Car Transporter.
Focus on Ford: The £80m EU loan for Ford's Turkish Transit plant ...
......
5 Nov 2012 - Today around 70 per cent of UK-sold Transit vans are imported from Turkey. Koceali built 185,000 Transits last year compared with just over 28,000 made in Southampton and Ford says the plant will “comfortably absorb” Southampton's work.

Re: Car Transporter.
Hi Stan
I was in Goa in India in 2005 and I bought a bottle of Chivas Regal, it was made in India from a "mash" sent out from the Scottish Distillery then water is added in India. Tasted OK but not like the real thing from Scotland. It was only about £2 a bottle so couldn't complain.
As I write I have just opened a new Bottle of Famous Grouse on my desk, . That tastes just right. The Real Thing.
Cheers
Brian
