Re: Scotland's Navy
Good one Roger, it made me want to break out my sheepskin leggings and helmet with the horns on top.
Don't forget when you are enjoying your Viking Funeral you must also have a dead dog at your feet. It will help you to find the way to Valhalla.
I am now getting worried that my fingers haven't curled., Am I or am I not?a

Re: Scotland's Navy
Well i have read all the posts replying to the idea that the church is calling for instead of dumping food which is perfectly edible and not passing it on to aid charities, Who are willing to collect and distribute to hungry families with children, And all I can say is a lot of you don't know how a parent feels when they can't afford to heat and eat, The first thing I would suggest is watch any news program this evening, Food banks are very much in todays headlines. Its not only the church calling for this its all aid charities, I have followed it today I havnt seen one dead head enter a food bank with his dog, But I have seen pensioners, Middle aged parents the country over, Young educated students who cannot live on zero hour contracts, And ordinary working class people awaiting for their level of benefits to be payed. ETC............ The dead heads with their dogs you will find on { Benefit Britain programs } That you all seem to enjoy watching to justify your replies because they have had their benefit payments stopped or sanctioned by the DWP for not seeking or taking zero hour contracts.
Pity the Tory M.P Nigel Mills, While he indulged in 2 hours of Candy Crush any deadhead, Would do for a living, Never got sanctioned and instead of paying him £67.000 plus expenses { Bewildered }
apologises

A Tory MP has apologised "unreservedly" for playing games on his iPad during a select committee hearing - as the Commons authorities launched a mole hunt for whoever caught him on camera.
Photographs published by The Sun showed Nigel Mills enjoying online hit Candy Crush Saga during a Work and Pensions Committee evidence session.
The Amber Valley MP, who has been issued with a tablet at the taxpayers' expense, initially told the newspaper he would merely "try" not to be diverted by the game again.
But in a statement this afternoon he said: "I apologise unreservedly for my behaviour at the committee meeting and realise it fell short of what is expected of a Member of Parliament.
"I guarantee it will not happen again. It is a fantastic privilege to represent Amber Valley and I hope constituents will continue to support my campaigns such as lower taxes for hardworking people."
Prime Minister David Cameron described Mr Mills as a "hardworking" politician, adding that he was sure he would "work even harder in future".
One of Mr Mills' senior Tory colleagues, Sir Edward Leigh, has reportedly suggested that he was only trying to "keep himself awake" during a boring committee meeting.
The committee met last Monday and was discussing pensions and the insurance industry ahead of the Chancellor's Autumn Statement.
A Commons spokesman said the photographs, shot over Mr Mills' shoulder, broke strict parliamentary rules. Taking images without permission can lead to individuals being barred from the estate.
"This was a breach of the filming rules for House of Commons Committee Rooms, and will be investigated by the Serjeant at Arms," a spokesman said.
Commons rules state that: "No one should photograph, film or sketch or have their voice recorded anywhere within the Parliamentary Estate without permission.
"Anyone who attempts to do so, or to market, publish or transmit such material will be referred to Black Rod or the Serjeant at Arms.
"This could prejudice their future admission to the Houses of Parliament."
The Serjeant at Arms has scope to impose some punishments, but "serious breaches" are reported to the Administration Committee.
Speaking on a visit to Harris City Academy in Crystal Palace, south London, Mr Cameron said: "I haven't spoken to Nigel about it. I know he is a very hard-working MP, I know him well, he fights very hard in his constituency for people in Derbyshire, he works very hard in Parliament.
"I'm sure he will be embarrassed by what he saw in the papers today and he will work even harder in the future."
But TaxPayers' Alliance spokesman John O'Connell said: "This is nonsense on stilts. If the Parliamentary authorities have the time and money to waste on this pointless inquiry, then clearly we need to have another look at the size of their budget.
"The issue isn't how the photos got out, but why the MP was messing around on video games during the Committee and why Parliament insists on these outdated filming regulations for what is, lest we forget, a public meeting."

Re: Scotland's Navy
Can see what you are getting at Terry, would acknowledge everyone on site would agree with you. Think in a lot of cases the Churchman who made the statement all would agree, however for the Church as a whole to claim the statement was made by them takes some thinking about. The statement was probably made by a Christian man and was from the soul. The Church which is as responsible as any politician has had in the past too much to say as the way people run their lives. It does not take some church political advisor to the pontiff or whatever Christian leader is in power to make such statements, whilst applauding the particular man on his statement, the church should not make claim to such as coming from them. They should as some state push their faith forward by example, I was a church goer and still do when the urge gets to me, if it is a good vicar or whoever he will attract people, it is not the church as a whole which does pull people. You can be a Christian without going to church every man or womans soul is a church, and don't need the ancient rituals of the long past Babylonians to teach us anymore. Look at these countries states they are in to at the moment which all started originally with religion and three thousand years later is still going on there today. As said in a previous post we have moved on at a faster pace than them, if we had stayed at same pace there would be no politicians and the countries would be run by the head of whatever sect was in power. When dealing with these countries the politicians should forget about their presidents and prime ministers they are not the real power, the heads of their religions are. Cheers JS

Re: Scotland's Navy
I wrote this at 17 years old, while a bible class teacher at the St Andrews Baptist church. Have had no reason to change it since.
THE GOSPEL ACCORDING TO BRAID ANDERSON
If there is but one God; one sole Creator who is eternal, described henceforth as The Creator, then:-
1) The Creator does not require to be given a name by mortals. Only people need names to distinguish one from another. The Creator, as the one and only, has no such need.
2) The Creator should not be described as He or She. The one and only Eternal Creator has no need or opportunity to indulge in sexual relations. Only mortals require to reproduce. Therefore The Creator is neither male nor female.
3) We are all the created children of The Creator. Therefore The Creator is well aware that it is not the fault of the Infidel that he is not Moslem; the Gentile that he is not Jewish; the Heathen that he is not Christian.
4) There can be no such thing as a Holy War or a Jihad. It is a blasphemy for any religious leader of any denomination, to claim the support of The Creator in the slaughter of others of The Creator’s ‘children’, of whatever creed or colour.
5) The Creator has no need of whole volumes of Holy Writings, inscribed and interpreted by mortals, for the confusion of other mortals. Only one Universal Law is required for all of The Creator’s ‘children’ - that each and every one of them should treat the others as he would have the others treat him. Punishment for the breaking of this law is not the concern of The Creator. That is for mere mortals to decide among themselves.
6) It is the height of arrogance for any mere mortal to set himself up as The Voice of/The Only Son of/ The Interpreter of The Creator. The Creator does not require any mortal stand-in. Should The Creator decide to communicate with mortal man, The Creator can achieve this simultaneously to all mankind, without a mouthpiece, and without recourse to any human language or device.
7) The Creator is eternal. The Creator has no shape or form. Shape and form are finite, The Creator is infinite. The Creator IS Creation; one and the same with all that was, is, or ever will be. Therefore we are all a part of The Creator.

Re: Scotland's Navy
Braid in the Bible or the Volume of the Sacred Law God was first known as El Elohim, then later as El Shaddai, then Jehova, he never was referred to as a man or a person, although have never read the Koran would imagine a lot of the human characters appear in their Holy Book as well, was told that Jesus does but is considered a preacher of the times, which is quite feasible. All religions it appears must have a head poncho in Buddahism is Buddah, in Christian values is Jesus, God himself, will never be proved or disproved about the relevance God has to human kind. He/She /It is an Entity only not to be spoken to or looked at with human eyes. As we get further into a scientific world this will still be an enigma. Its a pity that humans could find such a subject or excuse to go to war over. Cheers JS

Re: Scotland's Navy
This is all very interesting and how one would love to know the real truth that lies behind all the Mystery!
I myself and this is only me mind you, still think that once we depart this Earth all will be revealed to us,as I cannot get it in my mind that all this going on is just for naught!
But then who am I to say!
Its in the Creators hands isn't it!
Cheers
This could end up as a long and informative Thread ??

Re: Scotland's Navy
Theres only one creator Vern, so don't know how people can fight over the same entity. It is the so called religions evolving from the one creator and man made laws that are the one and only problem. JS

Re: Scotland's Navy
The problem Ihave is very simple. There is a begining and an end to everything so where did space come from and what was there before it? If the earth began as a ball of gas in space as the scientists tell us where did the gas come from? If there are other galaxies where did they begin and where did they come from and where does space end?
We have beggars here in Melbourne but the police do move them on. Food banks we also have as well as Salvos stores with clothing etc. But do not be confused, not all who use them are destitute, it has been proven that some of the customers are quite well heeled. The current feral gov has told the nation we must stop looking for hand outs, get of our butts and do some serious work. To this end a survey has been conducted on som eof the 'disabled' only to find thta as many as 25% could do a days work quite easily and will now find their benifits cut until they find work.
But Roger if you have your cabin cruiser set afire outside the opera house the Greenies will be after you for poluting the atmosphere, and what the hell has any of this to do with Scotlands navy?

[QUOTE=happy daze john in oz;189204.................But Roger if you have your cabin cruiser set afire outside the opera house the Greenies will be after you for poluting the atmosphere...........QUOTE]
Aye, John, and there's the rub.......but consider this, if I should opt for a Viking funeral then, surely, I'll be destined for hell and damnation. Now if, as you suggest, the greenies (think Christine Milne and Sarah Hanson-Young, architects of all that is insane and unworkable in Oz) decide to come after me, the people of Australia will forever
be in my debt. Just imagine, statues of Roger Dyer in every major city....Yer know what ?...I think I'll do it.;)
