An old ferts Sunday Moan
Its just gone 10:00 hrs on Sunday 09/11/2014 here in the U.K., a pleasant sunny morning here in the North East.
I have just returned from my morning stroll up to the paper shop to get my Sunday paper {along with mint sauce to go with Sundays lamb roast}, a distance of around 300 yrds away.
During that stroll I have:-
Been nearly bowled over by 4 joggers
Nearly run over on the pedestrian crossing by 4 cyclists.
These are not youths but middle aged men and women, sweating in their jogging gear and pedalling like mad on their mountain bikes or racing cycles.
DONT THEY KNOW ITS SUNDAY-----A DAY OF REST.
They should all have been at home having a lie in or bringing their partners breakfast in bed, not clogging up pavements and roads whilst us old farts make our Sunday stroll for the papers which we can read over a pint when the pub opens at 11:00.
God its worse than Sunday at sea where we were all up early scrubbing alleyways, cleaning cabins, polishing brass etc. in order to get ready for the 11:00 March of the Unemployed, more correctly called Masters Inspection of Accommodation, Galley and Store Rooms.
Moan over, I'm off to the Pub now to await opening time.

john I live a couple of hundred yards from a gym every morning you see a steady stream of joggers steroid junkies in and out even in the park were I take the dog there are exercise gadgets I often ask one of the joggers why do you do it?? they are not keeping fit they run along main roads heart beating full capacity lungs bursting and for what breathing fumes from cars busses and at the risk of being knocked over by some maniac on the school run? I always remind them the fella who started the craze in America dropped dead at 42 is it worth it? I live like a tortious now slow and easy you never here of a tortious dying young? jp

Re: An old ferts Sunday Moan
Chris, i am in agreement with that, i am a bit deaf, and when walking around on the pavement cyclist whizz by, no bell warning, and if you were to get hit at our age a lot of damage, i always assumed cycling on the pavement was illegal, apparently not these days, as no one seems to care. On the subject of disabled buggies, a couple of years ago here on the Island a foot path walker was killed by one of these buggies, KT

I certainly can join in with a lot of the things said here!
One for sure is I too am Deaf in the one Ear and it is quite a start at times when something comes up behind you on the deaf side! Eeeeeek!!
Cheers
May be they should star making a separate walkway for us old Ferts! LOL!
And make them with nice bright colour Bricks or Concrete!
