Last night on the Wales TV news there was an item of how a three years old little girl fell overboard from the Mersey Ferry 'Snowdrop' near Seacombe yesterday and into the Mersey, within seconds two crew members dived into the water pulled her out and saved the little girls life. Congratulations to both men for your actions.

Default 3 yrs old child falls off Mersey Ferry



A three year old toddler fell off a Mersey Ferry this afternoon at Seacombe and was rescued by a very brave member of the crew. See HERE It is treacherous where it happened and had it not been low water at the time it could have had a tragic ending. The river runs at over 7 knots on the ebb and flood just there and I doubt whether she would have stood a chance nor the crew member for that matter. A very brave man indeed

Two brave men indeed John.I wonder why it was necessary to take the ferry off for the rest of the day.I imagine many people would've been inconvenienced going both ways heading home from work.Could it be that the captain and mate were traumatised.!!!

Jim one of the two guys who went in the water and got the little girl was the Mate.

Probably not allowed to sail again until HSE have held a full enquiry in addition to the mate not being allowed to return to duty until he had been medically checked over and filled in numerous risk assessment forms which he should have filled in prior to jumping in the water to save the girl. He will have his knuckles rapped for not filling in those forms prior to jumping and may even be suspended from duty. It's the world we now live in.

My mate who recently crossed the bar finished the last 17 years of his working life as AB on the Mersey Ferries,he was the only one working on them that came from thise side of the water.The ferries have always been crewed by Birkenhead area guys and I'm sure that they could've mustered a full new crew to finish off the day rather than tie it up and not consider the passengers.It wouldn't of happened years ago.
