Built to last
Today reviewing a 'Snobow' video of ships that sailed to NZ.
Most interesting wee two ships, both of which survived into the 21st entry.
Launched in 1954 the 'Southern Cross' still sails today as the cruise liner 'Imperial Majesty'
The other ship began life as the 'Empress of Canada' launched in 1960 she went to Alang beakers in 2003.
Both ships a credit to what was then British Ship Building.

Yes in some detail about her speed, going into troop carrying service after only 7 months as a liner

Re: Built to last
Recently on ABC we had a series called 'The Midwives' about Poplar, London slums. The opening backdrop showed a section superstructure and two beige funnels that looked mighty like the 'DM'.
