Default Merchant navy day in liverpool

Today Sunday 1/9/13 I attended the Merchant Navy Day Service at St. Nicholas Church in Liverpool.
Full house at the Church with representatives from Canada, and India, and a few other places. Mayors of Liverpool and a few other towns.
our Kenny Kenny found me and a few yarns and laughs.
We then marched down to the MN Memorial on the Pier Head and a small sevice held there. Saw a few other mates there, including a few of Charlie Hannahs mates, including Charlie Hobson, the Bard of Bootle. Now Charlie Hannah sent Mrs Hobson Condolances for Charlie`s death, which surprised her as Charlie was sat with her at the time. It was another Charlie, So Charlie Hannah we all had a good laugh about it in the Eldonian Club. As Charlie said, Not many men alive have had an Obituary.
Charlie Hobson said On Saturday they scattered the Ashes of Vinnie Farrel off the Mersey Ferry into the Mersey. He lived in Sydney and his ashes were sent home for the River.
My brother was the Banner Man for the Indy, the wind was blowing near force twelve and he was last seen doing 18 knots down the Pier Head with his banner like a windjammers Mainsail.
Kenny and his mate Len had a few laughs at the Pier Head then I went off to the Eldonian Club
Kenny said they had a Stripper on, `thats good `I said, `Yes he`s on the Roof Stripping off the lead`
A good curry dinner for free and a few pints, a few yarns with all the lads. So it has been a good day.
    Cheers Liverpool another good day.
    Brian
Kenny, Tommy Miller and Len, ...Kenny and me,,,, The Service on the Pier Head,,,, Me and my old mate Tommy.
Tommy was in my story of the FRANCONIA, when we locked him in the stores lift with a Dead frozen body of a Steward, the body started to defrost and was moving against Tommy in the darkness, he was demented.screaming, never been sober since. He told me the sad news that another mate of ours off the Franconia, Paddy Durkin has died, I was with Paddy dragging a box with body of a 20 stone woman inside, . we stopped for a ciggy and I fell asleep on top of the coffin type box, Paddy said he had never seen anyone sleeping on top of a dead body before. But that was the Franconia. Happy days.

    Hi Charlie,
He is called Len ??? I have met him a few times but cannot remember his surname.
He did ten years on the Caronia and worked on the Docks with Ken, Ken will know if he sees this. the little fellow is Tommy Miller ex AB and Bosuns Mate on the Reina Del, used to be Big now he is shrinking fast.
Yes we had a good laugh in the Club about the Condolances over Charlie Hobson. Good to see you were wrong.
There were about six of them there who said they still email you .
cant remember all their names after a few pints.
    Cheers
    Brian.
