When Dreadnought at Greenwich closed we got two wards at St. Thomas', Northumberland and Somerset. They have now gone but you can still get priority treatment at St. Thomas'.
I will try to find the address and what you have to do to get treatment. will post it tomorrow Louis.
Alec.
Just had a look at google Louis. Go to Google and just type in "Seamans Hospital" and all the info is there.

Hi Shipmates, Hi Alec, Hi Doc Vernon I was hopeing for an Icon on our main forum to tell all our shipmates about this wonderful hospital ward we have in London with the waiting list for the N.H.S. set to increase over the next few years' this information could save many ex British merchant navy lives Many of my old shipmates dont know about this. From an article that I read in the Merchant Navy Association Magazine Full Ahead, there is a unit within
St.Thomas Hospital London. It says that you need a form signed by your doctor.
If you require a form, it says, please write or phone. Ann Gray, 61 Bemerton Gardens, Kilby Cross, Essex,
CO13 0LQ. Tel:01255 8519191

What actualy happened to the dreadnaught Hospital in Greenwich, did it go the same way as the MN?
Has the site been used for housing or something similar?

It was turned into the University of Geenwich. The dreadnought ward at ST. Thomases is now a dental surgery. I beleive that "IF" your doctor writes a nice letter to the Dreadnought seamans hospital trust , you "MAY POSSIBLY" be offered a bed at Barts not ST. Thomases.

I heard it is now the largest knocking shop, in the UK, and is managed by BORIS the Mayor of London and his Greatness the LORD PRESCOT of Prescot street. Could be totally wrong of course, and it is now used as a safe house for those MPs caught fiddling, and is being payed for by the hard pressed UK tax payer. Oh my, what an absolutely wonderful Island we live in, where we just throw BILLIONS of pounds towards some forgein country, because they have run out of dosh. To kick us further up the Kyber Pass, there are the best political brains in the world (supposedly) trying to put everything right. I think a bunch of meercats could do better.
