    Default Merchant Navy Day Cruise

Just received the following information by email.

Two interesting cruises on SS “Shieldhall” from Southampton to commemorate Merchant Navy Day.

As one of the s.s. Shieldhall’s volunteer Master’s I would be grateful if you could bring the following to the attention of all M.N.A. Branches:-

The s.s. Shieldhall, the UK’s Largest Operational Preserved Passenger/Cargo Heritage Steamship will be operating two special cruises from Southampton in September to commemorate Merchant Navy Day.

Saturday 3rd September, 12:00 – 17:00 @ £29:00p.p. Merchant Navy Day cruise. A cruise past Southampton’s Docks, Esso Fawley, down the Solent Past Cowes I.o.W and return. Celebrate our Merchant Navy that made Britain Great. Old seadogs can bring along their discharge books for signing.

Sunday 4th September, 12:00 – 17:00 @ £29:00 p.p. Memorial cruise for those Merchant seamen that gave their lives for our country, in peace and war. A cruise East past the Isle of Wight, where the ship will stop for a brief service and wreath laying.

Unfortunately all Southampton’s Maritime Padre’s are unavailable so the Service will at present be carried out by one of the Ship’s Masters, however if any branch is able to bring their padre to conduct the service he will of course be carried free gratis.

A 10% discount is available for groups of 10 or more. To book call 0844 357 2329 and leave a message or send an email to tickets@ss-shieldhall.co.uk. For more details see the attachment to this email, visit the website http://www.ss-shieldhall.co.uk or contact Gareth Peaston on 01202 874606

    Best regards,
    Captain Gareth Peaston
    President Weymouth & Portland Branch
    Master s.s. Shieldhall

Have just been informed by the National MNA, that sadly the “Shieldhall” trips from Southampton including 3 & 4 September, have been cancelled.
