Doctors (GPs) are threatening to go on strike because they are overworked and underpaid, pardon*** but you cannot get a face to face appointment because 'they' are not seeing anyone but only doing telephone consultations, that's if you get the receptionist to allow such a consultation/phone call. Yet we are being bombarded by adverts from the NHS on TV, and in the Press, urging us to see our doctors if we have been experiencing a cough for two weeks or more as it could be cancer related, which is adding insult to injuring and also wasting vast amounts of NHS (our) money on these useless adverts. It is apparent, or would appear to be so, that administrators are not talking to each other and the left hand does not know what the right hand is doing.
*** Doctors (or Practices) are paid by the number of patients registered on their books regardless whether they see you or not, from reports the average GP earns £93,000 per annum. I have never known a Doctor Practice to be open on a Saturday afternoon or Sunday, and if asking to see a particular doctor you're told he started at 8 this morning so finished at 2 this afternoon
