JIm, that is an odd one relating to the lady visitor to Oz.

We a have choice here, though it varies state to state, whether we pay for the Ambulance or not. There is available ambulance insurance for singles or families and is rebatable against your health insurance if you have any. Once over 65 you no longer have to pay.

Have never heard of any ambo asking the question, their job is to pick you up and take you to where ever you have to go. Even if you have no cover they will still take you and you will receive an account in time. All customers of the service will receive such an account. The only time I was ever in one I no longer had to pay but still got an account . On it the question is asked, how will you pay? If a senior, no payment, if you have ambulance cover no payment.

The only way the son may have been under insured would be if he was insured as a single and tried to use family rates.

I have been against duel citizenship for years, if the person can't accept just the one then they shouldn't be given a passport
This has stood out in America when Trump stopped all the Ms coming in everyone had duel passports.

Hi Des, that Mo Farrar, who was Knighted, now Sir Mo, just because he ran faster than anyone in the Olympics, has a Somali Pass Port, also a British Pass Port , but he and his family all live in the US of A.

Where is his home then. ????? Somalia, Britain or USA????. Why don't they stop this abuse of a Pass Port system. Terrorists use it all the time.

Regarding the NHS, I am fed up of being accused of being a drain on the NHS.
They always say, every day , The NHS not good enough because `we` have an aging population.
What next?? Compulsory Euthanasia for over 65s??

All the elderly people have paid into the NHS for 50 Years with their NHI Contributions while working.

Most of the younger people today have not done that, All the Immigrants and asylum seekers Refugees etc have never paid one penny into it,
All the druggies and alcoholics who are not working are not paying into it or all the professional Benefit claimants are not paying into it, or all the Obese who are too fat to work are not paying into it.

Regarding waiting Lists.
My son is a Consultant in a hospital, he told me he has to wait in the same queue as everyone else to see a Consultant. They get no preferential treatment.
He has waited three weeks so far to see one of his colleagues.
He has to see a GP if he wants a prescription. the same as everyone else.

I went into hospital by ambulance three am two weeks ago, as long as you have your pension card and Medicare card you don't pay. I have payed taxes all my life; and I only joined a insurance scheme when we first came to Aus, when Goff Whitlam god bless, him brought in medicare I stopped paying the private rip off. I worked with blokes who were paying through the nose for medical insurance because they said they wanted their own Dr, one private hospital in Sydney where you could pick your own DR made so many mistakes the patients ended up in Westmead some of whom couldn't be saved, my wife worked there at least one a week came down; so much for your own Dr, as it is I can go to the Dr of my choice now but how do I know he is any good at first, a bit like car mechanics their not all good you may have to shop around..

Des, my mate and I both had Prostate cancer, he went private mine was Medicare.
It cost him over $2,000 in out of pocket expences and me $47.

But a leading specialist told me the public service is far better than private if you are sick.
Private is fine for some elective surgery, like knee or hip but after that Medicare all the way.

barb is on the waiting list both hips have worn away she is my carer but the government has stopped carers allowance be couse she has become a pensioner ? jp

John my wife had both hips done last year and has now Titanium ones. She is back dancing. She had one of her eyes de-catarized on Monday and now has no lens in one of her glasses. Expect to get the other one done next month, and will probably need only reading glasses. Me I'm falling to pieces with pains and cramps, supposed to sleep with a thing over my nose which have given up on, just a grumpy old man. However as one gets older one gets more experience with health woes. Cheers keep in there and make noises to the appropriate authority if you think you are in the right. All the best. JS

Just received a copy of a letter sent to my GP from my hospital consultant it finishes up with.I will put his name on the waiting list for whenever the funds are available,does'nt give a clue when that could be.

Maybe Jim if you left the country and claimed asylum when you came back they would see to you then and there.
